Coaching Changes, and the Commitment to Excellence
It is no secret that the Miners are very disappointed in their performance in '08. It is
important to remember that they only played in two tournaments this year, but that doesn't
excuse the results. Needless to say the fans aren't the only ones that are unpleased. The
Elders of the Miners Union, have put their foot down and will not tolerate this any longer. They
spent a lot of time and money upgrading the Big House, and putting in place a new and improved
website. They didn't put this amount of work in to watch the team lose.
For changes that will have more of an impact on the team we can start with the coaching staff
overhaul. Bo Shinbreaker has been given more decision making control over the team, and will
continue to be in charge of the offense and conditioning of the team as well as player personnel
decisions. Captain Kerrunch has been removed from any coaching responsibilities, and has
also been stripped of his honorary Captain title. The team has kept him on but only has the
head of the teams Pep squad, he no longer is allowed in practices and his contact with the team
is limited. To fill his void the team has brought in hard nosed defense coach Bloody Ryan.
Bloody promises that the teams defense will be more aggressive then ever before, and he plans
on eliminating all the easy scores the team has given away recently. It is reported that Bo has
given Bloody Ryan free reign to do whatever he sees fit with the defense.
If that wasn't enough for you the team went looking for an on field leader as well. It didn't
take them long to decide that 'Golden Toe' Joe should be the new Captain of the Miners. He has
taken this responsibility very seriously and has made sure that every player is early to practice
and late to leave.
I think it is safe to say that the Miners want to return the franchise to greatness. The Elders
have made it very clear that they have given the team all the tools they need, now they expect
them to show their Commitment to Excellence.
